Position: Director, Analytics
Reports to: Director, Finance

The Director, Analytics will be responsible for utilizing web data and analysis to identify, recommend and execute opportunities to improve user experience, customer acquisition and retention.

The role will include spearheading initiatives to understand and model consumer behavior, suggest changes and improvements, test and measure impact, and create best practices for tracking, reporting and measuring results. This senior role involves working across teams and with senior management on highly strategic projects with strong user and revenue impact.


* Lead strategic direction of site data analysis including management of the data warehouse and testing infrastructure with the development team as well as creation of easy to follow, necessary internal reports for management.
* Develop conclusions and recommendations for improving the user experience, conversions and retention as well as optimization of marketing for positive impact.
* Design and analyze A/B tests to drive measurable improvements
* Lead clustering and segmentation projects that improve results
* Help design and/or generate regular and ad hoc reports that help others clearly understand results
* Assist with creation and monitoring of data gathering mechanisms and structures within the environment as needed
* Work with product, marketing and PR personnel to address their analytics needs and provide guidance on their projects


* Extremely strong SQL skills with a good understanding of statistical methods
* Strong understanding of segmentation methods and multivariate (A/B) testing
Experience with large, active data sets
* Masters in Mathematics, Computer Science or related field a plus

Key Roles & Responsibilities
Provide on-going analytical support related to web marketing and functionality: Provide weekly and / or monthly reporting on KPI measures for the web channels. Utilize tools such as Tealeaf and Webtrends to pull necessary data for analysis and reporting.
Provide on-going analytical support related to partner payments: act as liaison between the team and campaign / channel management making sure vendor payments are correctly represented in the campaign planning process and that payments are made in compliance with current contracts. Assist in the structuring of future vendor contracts that ensures optimum channel sales performance. Utilize tools such as SAS and SQL to pull necessary data.
Provide on-going analytical support related to current call center and channel fallout reporting. Focus on enrollment and system performance optimization by analyzing and documenting current processes. Develop and implement additional controls, as necessary.
Analyze financial impact of system and/or process issues discovered and develop financially justifiable recommendations for process improvements.
Provide deeper operational and financial insight by uncovering root causes for trends in sales, gains and losses by channel, type, and over time. Develop, summarize, and communicate key findings to management.
Perform essential proactive and ad-hoc analysis as required for the residential markets.
Support all of the above by performing sensitivity analyses for key assumptions and market scenarios, as necessary.
Develop executive level reporting and presentations accordingly.
Maintain current and accurate process and methodology documentation.
Manage and appropriately prioritize multiple overlapping projects.
Actively participate in cross-functional team activities, providing expertise on data types / sources, offering original perspectives, and challenging conventional views.
Maintain and expand knowledge of current and evolving database development methodologies and techniques, including CARE, CRM, BI, MCAD, SAS, and external sources.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor (with significant experience) or Masters in business, engineering, finance, accounting, economics, statistics or other quantitative field from a Top Tier Program
5+ years in a consulting and/or market/financial analysis role
Excellent business, financial and analytical acumen
Web marketing and analytics experience with strong technical working knowledge of web analytics tools such as Tealeaf and Webtrends
Advanced skills in extracting and analyzing data using SAS / SQL, macros, pivot tables, statistical functions and other large data analysis tools
Very strong Microsoft Excel analysis and modeling skills
Strong analytical skills with a working knowledge of statistics
Prior experience with SAP and extracting data from SAP BW desirable
Working knowledge of key financial, accounting and business metrics (e.g. NPV, PV/I, DCF) desirable
Experience in a customer-focused role and building relationships with key internal customers
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
Strong team player
Energy industry experience within a competitive/deregulated market is a plus

This role reports to the Executive Director of eBusiness and manages a team of senior analysts, UER experts and tag implementation specialists.

We are an Omniture shop, owning Site Catalyst, Discover, Recommendations and the Insight platform as well as a number of qualitative analysis tools including Tealeaf, iPerceptions and Clicktale.

Key responsibility is to develop and deliver overall strategy of how to leverage web analytics, UER and optimization to drive business results. Dailymakeover is looking to add a Digital Marketing Analyst to our team. You will the go-to person in the company for data and analysis, and responsible for turning data into actionable recommendations. As a key part of a small dynamic team you will have the opportunity to make, and see implemented, your recommendations for driving more traffic, keep users happy and improve the overall performance of our websites and products.

You will provide strategic business insight to all other functions based on analysis of data from various online analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Strongmail Message Studio, and other sources to optimize online content, email marketing, direct marketing and customer experiences. You will work closely with our editorial team to help them understand our users.
While some data ‘reporting’ and publishing of regular reports will be necessary, you will use your experience with Excel and the Google Analytics API (as well our our team of talented programmers) to minimize the time you spend pulling numbers and maximize the time you spend doing actual analysis.

– Work with VP of Strategic Development to create and evangelize dashboards to assist in decision-making. This process will include defining and documenting standardized metrics.
– Prepare regular reports to support email marketing, digital marketing, digital publishing and ecommerce efforts and company, site and user metrics.
– Measure site usability and effectiveness while turning data into actionable recommendations.

– Maintain active email mailing list and related supporting tasks.
– Assist in automation efforts as needed for executive and senior-level reporting.

– Excellent at Excel and/or experience with programming and scripting languages such as Javascript, HTML, Java, Python
– BA/BS in quantitative coursework (eg mathematics, statistics, Comp Sci, Engineering)
– Minimum 1 years of web analytics experience, including web metrics experience, experience implementing Google Analytics or similar tools for web analytics tracking.
– Understanding of business process analysis, system analysis and data analysis.
– Hands-on experience with business intelligence software (e.g. SQL Server, Charles, HttpWatch, Firebug, etc.), and current knowledge of trends and applications in the industry a plus
– Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, including verbal, written, listening and presentation.
